The 0.4.0 update adds several extra features on the iOS and Android version of Minecraft including Creepers, TNT, chests, beds, and trap doors along with different items and recipes. Peaceful Mode has become added also to help you play Survival mode without worrying about zombies, spiders and also other monsters.
At first...less. Minecraft Alpha ends as soon as Beta begins. (The whole Greek bit is usually semantics, but nonetheless helpful.) Every change to Alpha is often a switch to Beta, and to most players they're not going to be aware of the real difference until Notch adds something big, much like the Halloween update in October (coming from all times to produce a Halloween-based change!). The end of Alpha is being paved with changes on the Survival Multiplayer aspect of the action. Fans who only play single player won't be affected by this transitional period before the changes made on the game start to affect single player directly (almost certainly after Beta is live, or 'activated'). In a more general sense, games in Alpha are believed buggy and simply barely playable, while Beta (being more detailed Release), is a bit more stable and crashes less. Minecraft is but one amazing game in more ways than one, but especially in this regard. For any game this early in development, aside from this kind of indie sensation mostly produced by one lone guy, it can be remarkably stable already, but Beta will more than likely improve upon its strengths even more.
